Born in 1582, Luang Pu Thuat or หลวงปู่ทวด as he is referred to in Thai language was a revered Buddhist monk who lived in the old country of Siam. He was thought to have magical powers consisting of Buddhist elements and paved a path of pilgrimage for his followers through the southern Thai peninsula. Luang Pu Thuat passed away in 1682 making him 100 years old which was unheard of at the time.
There are many stories that have been passed down from generation to generation about the famous monk, many of which contain legendary tales of magic and even some about the monk himself performing miracles.Amulets depicting images of Luang Pu Thuat are thought to have great protective powers to many people throughout Southeast Asia and have granted safety to people during times of distress. Some of the older more sacred amulets have even been responsible for saving lives from almost certain fatal automobile accidents. These amulets have great value and would be considered priceless to many.
Until this day, statues of Luang Pu Thuat can be found all over Thailand where Thai locals and tourists alike will go to worship and pay their respects.
