The Witch

Authorized Replica

In Russia and many Slavic countries, children are told tales of a mysterious woman in the woods. It’s said she lives alone in a most peculiar house, a hut perched atop chicken legs. The Witch, known as Baba Yaga, may choose to help or hinder anyone who happens upon her in the forest.

The Apple of Life

a Baba Yaga Tale

Boris’s wife Verdie was pregnant with their first child. Verdie was very sick and she grew weaker and more gaunt with each passing day. Desperate, Boris left Verdie and travelled into the woods in search of the fabled Baba Yaga.

After several days of searching, he came upon a lone decrepit hut amidst the trees, settled on spindly chicken legs. The moss covered door opened before he could knock, and a wrinkled old woman with a crooked nose stood therein.

“You traveled a long way for nothing,” she said. “Return home so your wife will not die without her husband.”

Boris knelt before her. “Baba Yaga,” he said, “I beg you, save my wife and child.”

“Your child? Oh, it will live,” she announced. “A special, magical child it is. Too much for a mortal mother to carry to term. There is but one way to save her.” She produced an apple of the richest red from her dress pockets. “Give her this.”

“Thank you,” Boris eagerly began.

“Do not thank me yet,” Baba Yaga interrupted. “The hand that feeds this apple to another will grow limp as the first bite is swallowed. This transfer of life force will save your wife as well. But…”

She did not finish.

Boris nodded solemnly. “I understand. Thank you.”

Baba Yaga nodded sagely and closed her door. With that, Boris stowed the apple away and began his final journey home.

There is a reason that people still fear the deep dark woods, for as advanced as our technology has progressed, the woods still hold an air of mystery and danger, especially at night when the lights and conveniences of our modern world can no longer feel close at hand.

The Witch NFT

On October 30th, 2021, master engraver Roman Booteen launched his first ever NFT digital offering, the Keepers of The Golden Heart on the OpenSea trading platform. Not surprisingly, it sold mere moments after listing for 3.78 ETH, a transaction valued at $16,306 at the time of the sale.

In simple terms, an NFT – Non-Fungible Token – is a digital asset that cannot be combined or divided into smaller pieces. A single NFT is indivisible and can only ever have a single owner at any one time. Similar to tangible collectibles, NFT’s can be plentiful, rare, or unique. With proveable ownership and impossible to counterfeit, NFT’s show promise as the way to collect assets in the digital economy.

For the first time, Roman Booteen’s The Witch authorized replica offers the best of both worlds. Each collector of The Witch coin will also receive digital ownership of The Witch NFT – only (1000) ever minted! The two assets – digital and physical – exist independent of each other, offering the owner the opportunity to keep one or both collectibles.

Built on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, The Witch NFT boasts all the benefits of digital asset ownership without the extreme cost of transactions. Trade freely with others for a fraction of what traditional blockchain costs are with Ethereum.
